NOPD, U.S. Marshals, JPSO Arrest Suspect in Attempted Homicide Investigation

Today (May 13, 2025) the NOPD – aided by the U.S. Marshals and the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office – arrested Evans Rogers (black male, DOB: 05-01-2006) in its investigation of an attempted homicide incident that occurred on May 12, 2025, in the 1600 block of Elizardi Boulevard.

NOPD Reports Continued Significant Decrease in Violent Crime in 2025

During a press conference on May 6, NOPD Superintendent Anne E. Kirkpatrick addressed the department’s continued efforts to fight crime in the city, citing data compiled by the department’s Analytics Unit that show a continued significant decrease in both overall violent crime as well as in respective subcategories.
